Open the Book.
Mission in Misson
Every Monday morning several cars pull up at Misson school our “Open the Book team” emerge with a mixture of props including boats, banners, puppets, sheep, trees, backdrops, dressing up outfits emerge to be put together into a presentation of the Bible for the children of Misson school.
We start with the Open the Book rhyme and then go into the story which maybe a narration with mime or actual acting, or perhaps a videoed news report of some event in the Bible with ‘Live reporting’ in the hall, any thing is possible!
We enjoy a wonderful welcome from the school staff and pupils, and have been very encouraged by the feedback from the children. Particularly when they come and tell us they have got a Bible and have read the story we have told in it!
We are looking to form another team in the area to begin working in another school, so if anyone is interested please get in touch via the webmaster!
The programme lasts 3 years using stories, drama, puppets, video and poetry to give an overview of the teaching of the Bible, with interaction from the children.
Not the three wise men!
